IMAGINE
HUDSON
WITHOUT IT

Nestled between coffee shops, galleries, and yoga studios lies one of Hudson’s most iconic historic treasures: First Presbyterian Church

A STAPLE OF COMMUNITY GATHERING
IN THE HEART OF HUDSON

Get a glimpse into the multifaceted role of the First Presbyterian Church in the community and the incredible and varied things that go on within the space, involving countless individuals and organizations of the City of Hudson. The historical nature of the building brought to life by the clock team is just breathtaking, and the community impact through the work of Promised Neighborhood is truly inspiring.

It’s the church that inspires community, artistry, and compassion. Today, this historic church is a spiritual and community hub, and its spire continues to be a beacon of Hudson, just as it always has over its 187-year history.

The church that inspires now needs your help to ensure it continues to stand tall as an iconic feature of Hudson’s skyline.

A NEW ASSESSMENT OF THE CHURCH

This new video shows the beauty of First Presbyterian Church but also where preservation work is needed — from rotted gables on the towers, to decayed eaves, to shifting and missing stone and tile. The Friends are embarking on a new structural assessment of the building to prioritize projects and to seek funding for them. Anyone interested in helping to protect this landmark, can contact the Friends at HudsonFriendsofFPC@gmail.com.

A NEW ROOF

Thanks to generous donations from dozens of members of the community and the New York Landmarks Conservancy Sacred Sites Program, First Presbyterian Church has a new standing seam roof that covers the original structure of the church, which was built in 1837. The roof was completed in spring 2023 and protects the congregation as well as other building tenants, including the Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood.
